Land Rover Stolen from Auto Repair Shop in Manhattan, Recovered in the Bronx

A 2007 Land Rover was at an auto repair shop in upper Manhattan for service when it was stolen outside the shop, with the keys in the ignition. When the owner of the Land Rover returned to the shop, he was informed that the vehicle had been stolen, and he immediately reported the theft to NYPD’s 25th precinct.
After gathering the pertinent information, NYPD officers entered the Land Rover’s information into the state and federal crime computer databases — a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short time later, officers assigned to the Bronx Auto Larceny Unit picked up the LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover in their vehicle equipped with a Police Tracking Computer. The officers tracked the signal and located the stolen Land Rover, parked inside a commercial parking lot on Wyatt St and Morris Park Avenue, in the Bronx’s 48th precinct. The officers immediately impounded the vehicle for safekeeping and later released the vehicle to the owner.
