Baltimore County Aviation and Ground Units Recover Stolen Toyota Sienna Van

On the morning of February 2, 2012, the owner of a 2002 Toyota Sienna contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that the vehicle had been stolen from the 2900 block of Forest Glen Road in Baltimore City. The responding officer obtained all the pertinent information and submitted the Toyota’s vehicle identification number to the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, flight officers from the Baltimore County Aviation Unit received the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their helicopter. The directional and audible LoJack signal led officers to the area of the 2600 block of West Presbury Avenue in Baltimore City. There, flight officers and patrol officers from Baltimore City located the vehicle, parked and unoccupied. The vehicle was recovered by police.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Sienna at the new car buyer’s request in September 2001.
