Salt Lake City Police Track & Recover Acura MDX Stolen from Valet Parking at a Local Mall

The owners of an Acura MDX valet-parked their vehicle in a shopping mall in Salt Lake City on February 14, 2012; the next morning, the vehicle was missing. The owners immediately contacted the Salt Lake City Police to report the theft.
After verifying the theft; the Salt Lake City Police entered the stolen Acura’s information into the Utah and national stolen vehicle databse. This routine police action automatically activated the hidden LoJack transponder in the Acura MDX at 6:35 A.M. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because the LoJack interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than 45 minutes later, an officer with Salt Lake City Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack signal on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. Following the computer’s directional and signal strength cues, the police quickly located and recovered the undamaged Acura.
The car was later released at the scene to the owners, who only then learned that the car’s previous owners had the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System installed four years earlier on November 19, 2007.
