Chevrolet Pickup Stolen in Houston Recovered Within Hours Using LoJack

When the owners of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup discovered that their vehicle had been stolen on February 5, 2012, they immediately filed a theft report with the Houston Police Department. After gathering all of the pertinent information, Houston officers entered the Chevrolet’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Later that day, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. The deputies then queried the LoJack “Reply Code” appearing on the PTC display screens with the police stolen vehicle computer system and confirmed that the signals were coming from the stolen Chevrolet pickup. Following the directional and signal strength information on the PTC, deputies quickly located the pickup, parked and abandoned. Deputies stored the pickup, pending notification of the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed at the original owner’s request in September 2006.
