LoJack Early Warning System Enables Recovery of Stolen Kawasaki Motorcycle in Just TWO Minutes

On the morning of February14, 2012, the owner of a 2011 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle received an automated phone notification from LoJack’s Early Warning System that his motorcycle was moved without authorization. The owner got dressed, went outside his apartment and discovered that his motorcycle was indeed missing. He immediately called San Leandro Police Department to report the theft. San Leandro Police had the Kawasaki’s VIN entered into the state and federal crime databases — a routine police action that automatically and seamlessly activated the LoJack transponder hidden in the stolen motorcycle.
Just one minute later, two San Leandro Police Department units, equipped with LoJack’s onboard Police Tracking Computers, picked up the silent LoJack tracking signal from the stolen Kawasaki. Following the computer’s cues, the officers tracked the motorcycle to the south side of the city, where they observed a lone suspect pushing the stolen bike on the sidewalk. The suspect saw the officers approaching, abandoned the bike, and escaped through a drainage pipe in a rain basin. The owner of the bike was called to the scene to recover his undamaged motorcycle within the hour.
