Chicago Police Recover Stolen Mitsubishi Galant in Less than 20 Minutes

On January 15, 2012 the owner of a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant discovered that the vehicle had been stolen, and immediately contacted the Chicago Police Department to report the theft.
After verifying the theft and completing a stolen vehicle report, the Chicago Police had the Mitsubishi’s VIN entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mitsubishi and initiated the tracking of the vehicle. Neither the owner nor the police have to do anything else to cause the activation of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Within minutes, a Chicago police officer operating a patrol vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent LoJack signal emitting from the stolen Mitsubishi. Following the computer’s cues, the officer tracked the vehicle to a residential area, where he located the vehicle, parked and seemingly abandoned. The vehicle was towed for safekeeping, and the owner was contacted to recover it.
