2007 Jeep Wrangler, Stolen and Recovered in Chicago

On January 19, 2012 the owner of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler discovered that his vehicle had been stolen and immediately contacted the Chicago Police Department to report the theft.
After verifying the theft and completing a stolen vehicle report, the Chicago Police had the Jeep’s VIN entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Jeep and initiated the tracking of the vehicle. Neither the owner nor the police have to do anything else to cause the activation of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short time later, a Chicago officer operating a patrol vehicle equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent LoJack signal emitting from the stolen Jeep. Following the computer’s cues, the officer executed a series of turns and quickly located the stolen vehicle, parked on a public street. The officer had the vehicle towed for safekeeping until the owner could be contacted to retrieve the Jeep.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler on July 10, 2007.
