Land Rover Stolen During Atlanta Home Burglary Recovered Quickly, Suspect Arrested

On December 4, 2011, the owner of a 2006 Land Rover contacted the Atlanta Police Department to report that his home had been burglarized and his vehicle stolen from his garage.
The reporting officer responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Land Rover’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Land Rover — a system that, unknown to the owner, was installed at the Hennessy Land Rover dealership when the vehicle was new.
A short while later, the LoJack unit hidden inside the stolen SUV began to transmit a silent signal to police cars in the area. An officer from the Atlanta Police Department picked up the signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle, tracked the Land Rover close to the downtown area, and called for backup units to assist with the felony stop.
The driver was arrested for the theft of the LandRover and was transported to the detective’s office for possible charges for the burglary. The owner was pleased to learn that his Land Rover was recovered so quickly, a suspect was arrested, and that the items stolen from his home might be quickly recovered as well.
