Multiple Police Units Aid in Recovery of Honda Element Stolen Overnight in Seattle

A 2003 Honda Element EX MPV was stolen sometime between the afternoon hours of January 14, 2012 and the morning hours of January 15, 2012 from the 7500 block of 14th Avenue NE in Seattle.  When the owner discovered the vehicle missing in the early afternoon of January 15, he immediately contacted the Seattle Police Department to report the theft.

The reporting officer responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.

Later that afternoon, Washington State Patrol (WSP)  troopers and Lynnwood Police Department officers received the silent LoJack signal transmitting from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers in their patrol vehicles.  The WSP troopers were first to locate the abandoned vehicle in the 19700 block of 24th Avenue West in Lynnwood. Lynnwood officers recovered the vehicle and processed it for evidence. The license plates had been replaced with ones stolen from another Honda Element, but otherwise, the Honda did not appear to be damaged.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Element in July of 2003 when it was purchased as a new vehicle.
