The owner of a 2004 Cadillac Escalade knew that the car’s previous owner had installed a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System in the vehicle, but she hoped she would never have to use it. However, on the night of January 12, 2012, when she discovered the SUV missing from the 6100 block of West Charleston Boulevard, Las Vegas, she was thrilled to know that LoJack would help recover the vehicle.

Upon discovering the theft, the owner immediately contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department; the reporting officer responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Cadillac’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Cadillac and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.

An hour later, officers  with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s “Bolden Area Command” began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Cadillac with their LoJack-equipped patrol cars. Several minutes later, a Trooper with the Nevada Highway Patrol also picked up the LoJack silent signal near the Texas Station Hotel & Casino on N. Rancho Drive. Ultimately, the agencies located the Cadillac SUV parked near 1100 Tumbleweed, Las Vegas. The vehicle, which appeared to be intact, was later released back to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in teh Cadillac on 7/23/2004 by Cadillac West of Las Vegas, NV.
