High-Speed Chase Through Streets of Brooklyn Yields One Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Nissan

On January 15, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Nissan Altima parked and locked his vehicle on the street near his home in East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, confines of the 67 precinct. When he returned for the vehicle, he found it missing and immediately called the New York Police Department, 67th Precinct.
NYPD officers responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Nissan’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
A short while later, the police of the 67 Ante Crime Unit picked up the signal from the stolen Nissan on their onboard Police Tracking Computers. Following the computer cues, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential area of the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. There, they observed the Nissan being driven by a male. As they approached the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, the driver quickly sped away. The officers pursued the vehicle through several streets in East Flatbush until the Nissan got bogged down in traffic. The male suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but he was quickly apprehended by the police.
The Nissan was recovered with only minor damage. The owner was notified and was elated to know that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially with such minor damage.
