Toyota Corolla Stolen in Vancouver Recovered within Minutes of Theft Report

Sometime between the evening hours of January 4, 2012 and the early morning hours of January 5, 2012, a 2010 Toyota Corolla was stolen from a residence in the 6100 block of NE 113th Court in Vancouver. When the victim awoke on the morning of January 5th and discovered the Toyota missing, he immediately contacted the Clark County Sheriff’s Office to report the theft.
Clark County deputies responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Corolla and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
Four minutes later, a Clark County deputy received the silent LoJack signal transmitting from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the audio and visual cues on the computer’s display, the deputy quickly located the vehicle, abandoned in the 11200 block of NE Fourth Plain.
It did not appear to be damaged and was returned to the grateful owner, who was pleased to have had the LoJack system installed at the time of purchase in August 2009.
