One LoJack System Leads to the Recovery of 2 Stolen Vehicles in Phoenix

On New Year’s Day, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Dodge Ram pick-up parked the vehicle at his residence in Tempe, and when he returned to the spot in the morning, discovered that the vehicle was gone. The owner immediately contacted the Tempe Police Department to report the theft.
Tempe Police responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Dodge Ram’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Dodge and initiated the tracking of the truck.
Sixty-five minutes later, officers with Phoenix Police South Mountain Precinct began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Dodge on the LoJack Police Tracking tracked the LoJack signal to a townhome development in the 7000 block of south 42nd Street. In a common parking area, they located the stolen Dodge. Officers did not locate any suspects at the scene, and recovered the Dodge pickup. While recovering the truck, the officers discovered a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado that had also been reported stolen to the Tempe Police Department overnight, and recovered that vehicle as well.
The owner of the Dodge was happy they had LoJack installed in the truck and that police were able to track and recover the vehicle so quickly. Their system enabled not only their vehicle’s recovery, but the safe recovery of the Chevrolet Silverado, as well.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Ram pickup at the owner’s request in June 2007.
