Felony Stop in Anne Arundel County Leads to One Arrest for Theft of Stolen Camry

In the late afternoon of January 3, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Toyota Camry contacted the Anne Arundel County Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from the 400 block of Mainview Court in
Anne Arundel County Police responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Toyota’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
A short time later, patrol officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol units. Following the directional and audible signal on the PTCs, officers tracked the signal to the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway, where they located the vehicle in motion. The officers conducted a felony stop, recovered the vehicle, and placed the driver under arrest.
