Honda Odyssey Van Stolen in Everett, MA, Recovered in Minutes by Police

On the night of December 13, 2011, a resident of Everett, MA parked her Honda Odyssey van and went inside her residence; when she returned for the vehicle the following morning, she found it missing and immediately contacted the Everett Police Department to report the theft.
Everett Police responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda and initiated the tracking of the van.
Within minutes, officers from the Massachusetts State Police and the Lynn Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Honda Odyssey on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their vehicles. One of the Troopers received a very strong signal in the area of Essex Street in Lynn and notified other units in the area. Utilizing the prompts on their Tracking Computers, the officers proceeded to Chestnut Street, where an officer located the stolen vehicle turning onto Howard Street and began to follow it. As other units arrived in the area, they were able to perform a safe felony stop of the vehicle on Estes Street. After conducting a brief investigation, the lone suspect inside the vehicle was placed under arrest on various felony offenses and transported from the scene. Officers had the stolen Honda towed from the scene for safekeeping until Everett Police could notify the victim of its safe return. This vehicle was recovered within 23 minutes of the LoJack activation.
