Honda Accord Stolen from Boston Recovered by MA State Troopers in Less Than 2 Hours

On December 26, a resident of Boston parked his 2007 Honda Accord in the city; when he returned for the vehicle the following morning, he discovered it missing. The victim immediately contacted the Boston Police Department to report the theft.
Boston Police responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
A short while later, officers from the Boston Police Department and The Massachusetts State Police began picking up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Honda on Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. One of the State Troopers received a very strong signal on the edge of Roslindale and Hyde Park, and by utilizing the prompts coming from his Tracking Computer was able to successfully track and quickly locate the unoccupied and undamaged stolen vehicle parked on River Street in Hyde Parke. The trooper set up a brief surveillance on the stolen vehicle and when no suspect(s) returned to it, had the vehicle towed from the scene until Boston Police could notify the victim of its safe recovery. This vehicle was recovered within79 minutes of the activation.
