Parolee Arrested on Multiple Counts, Stolen Yamaha Motorcycle Recovered by Santa Ana Police & Air Unit

On January 7, 2012, Orange County Sheriffs- Air-DUKE flight deputies were on patrol when they picked up the silent LoJack signal of a 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 that was entered as stolen by Fullerton Police Department a few days earlier.
Following the cues from the LoJack Police Tracking Computer in their aircraft, the officers tracked the stolen Yamaha to the area of Warner and New Hope. They noted that the signal appeared to be moving and notified ground units. DUKE followed the signal to a parking lot near Fairview and 17th Street and observed two subjects standing next to the motorcycle. Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department closed in on the subjects, a male suspect jumped on the motorcycle and attempted to flee. He subsequently lost control, jumped off of the motorcycle and began running from the officers. After a short foot pursuit, the officers caught the suspect and arrested him without further incident. The suspect, a parolee, was later booked on numerous felony charges, including the theft of the MC, felony resisting, possession of Meth, and Battery on a Police Officer. The Yamaha had sustained minor damage to the ignition; the motorcycle was stored for safekeeping until it could be returned to the owner.
This was the second time this Yamaha has been stolen, tracked and recovered with LoJack since June of 2009. The owner of this Yamaha motorcycle had LoJack installed at Long Beach Motor Sports in November 2008.
