On May 13, 2012, the owner of a 2003 Mercedes Benz S500 contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Lomita Station to report the vehicle stolen. LASD officers verified the theft and had the Mercedes’ information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
