On November 6, 2012, a farmer returned to his orchard and discovered suspects had stolen a Case forklift that he had rented from Hertz Equipment Rentals to complete his fall harvest. The farmer then contacted the Stanislaus Sheriffs Department, Patterson sub-station, to report the theft. The forklift information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle

On January 30, 2012, Hertz Equipment Rentals in French Camp, CA, discovered that their 2005 Ford F-250 was missing. They quickly reported the theft to Contra Costa  California Highway Patrol. After verifying the theft, CHP officers completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Ford pickup truck’s VIN entered into the state and federal crime computers.
