The Wellington, FL residents in this case got a shock on a recent Monday morning when they discovered their Nissan Quest missing from their home, where they had parked it the night before. The LoJack® system that the owner had installed when purchasing the minivan proved to have been an excellent investment. With LoJack’s help, the Quest was recovered and the thief apprehended later that same day.

On December 2nd, 2013, the Nissan’s owner contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Quest, which was installed at West Palm Beach Nissan in West Palm Beach, FL.

A short while later, a PBSO deputy picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen minivan on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy located the Nissan parked at an apartment complex on Summit Pines Boulevard. As the deputy approached the vehicle, a man exited and fled on foot. The deputy pursued the suspect but lost sight of him and requested backup. A K-9 unit in the area responded to the scene, located the suspect and apprehended him. The Quest was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owners.
