It was just after midnight on a Saturday morning when the Nassau, NY resident in this case discovered his Mercedes Benz CLK240 was missing from in front of his home. Local police, assisted by the LoJack® system concealed inside the Benz, were able to recover it later that same morning.

On January 25th, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the NYPD 3rd Precinct to report the theft. Officers took a written report and entered the car’s information into the Nassau stolen auto computer and the NCIC national computer. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the CLK240, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Fairfield, CT.

A short while later, police officers from Brooklyn and Queens picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Mercedes was traveling through the city and eventually was located by officers in Nassau County, who found it parked and abandoned on a residential street. The CLK240 was undamaged, and its owner was elated to have it returned so quickly.
