The owner of a Chevrolet Tahoe took his family out for dinner on a recent Friday night, and when the group exited the restaurant, the SUV was missing from the parking lot. The LoJack® system that was installed in the vehicle at purchase helped make this situation a little less difficult by helping local police recover the Tahoe in less than an hour after activation.

On January 31st, 2014, the Chevy’s owner reported the crime to the University Place Police Department. Officers entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corvette, which was installed at Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner, WA.

Just minutes later, Seattle Police officers and King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in the helicopter and patrol cars.  The ground officers located the Chevy traveling and followed it. The driver stopped the car and fled on foot but was tracked by the ‘copter and swiftly taken into custody. The Tahoe was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
