The owner of BMW 325i in Morganton, NC, was just trying to be a nice guy when he loaned his vehicle to his ex-wife to take a child to the hospital. Unfortunately, the car was stolen out of the hospital lot. This victim was not only kind but smart as well- he had the LoJack® system installed when purchasing his car, which helped local law enforcement recover it quickly and safely.

On February 8th, 2013, the BMW’s owner reported the incident to the Morganton Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the 325i, which was installed at Global Imports BMW in Atlanta, GA, was then automatically activated.

A while later, a North Carolina DMV License and Theft Inspector began receiving homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Inspector located the BMW to a mobile home community, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the 325i was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
