The North Carolina based owner of a 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L loaned the vehicle to a friend who was a little less than careful. He started the SUV in his apartment complex parking lot and left it running and unlocked to warm up.  When the driver returned, the vehicle was gone. It’s a good thing the owner was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased the Pilot. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover it in less than three and a half hours after activation.

On March 3rd, 2014, the Honda owner’s friend contacted the Kernersville Police Department to report that the vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Pilot, which was installed at Crown Honda in Greensboro, NC, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Winston Salem PD and deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff Office picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.   Law enforcement located the Honda parked and abandoned in an apartment building lot off Humphries Street. After a brief surveillance, the Pilot was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
