It was just before midnight on a Sunday evening when the owner of a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover was carjacked in the parking lot of a nightclub. His assailant was armed and pushed the victim to the ground. This owner did the smart thing- he let the attacker take the SUV and did not fight back. He also had the wisdom to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his Range Rover, so local police were able to recover it quickly and safely.

On February 9th, 2014, the Land Rover’s owner contacted Decatur Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Range Rover, which was installed at Hennessy Land Rover Buckhead in Atlanta, GA.

A short while later, a DeKalb County police officer began receiving the homing signal coming from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tacking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. With assistance from his department’s air unit and another ground officer, the Land Rover was located in an apartment complex lot, where it was parked and abandoned. The Range Rover, which was in excellent condition, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
