The Tacoma, WA resident in this case discovered his Jeep Liberty missing from his residence just before lunchtime on New Year’s Eve. The SUV wasn’t gone for long thanks to the excellent work of local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system. Together, they recovered the vehicle in just 15 minutes after activation.

On December 31st, 2013, the Jeep’s owner reported the crime to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Liberty, which was installed at Milam Jeep in Puyallup, WA.

Just a few minutes later, a Pierce County Sheriff deputy received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car.  The deputy quickly located the car near the intersection of 120th Street and Sheridan Avenue where it was found parked and abandoned. The undamaged Liberty was soon returned to its happy owner.
