When the South Carolina residents in this case had their Ford F-250 stolen on Christmas Eve, both they and the local police hoped that the LoJack® system installed in the truck would facilitate a speedy recovery. LoJack did that, and more- it also helped police find another stolen vehicle, several auto parts, and a possible chop shop.

On December 24th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Darlington County Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Town and Country Ford in Charlotte, NC, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the North Charleston PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers located the Ford in a private garage, along with another stolen vehicle and various parts. The investigation is continuing. The undamaged F-250 was soon returned to its thankful owner.
