Here’s a Christmas story you probably haven’t heard before- The Grinch Who Stole the Honda Accord. When the owner’s husband went to run some pre-holiday errands and left the car unlocked and running while he picked up a coffee, a thief jumped in and drove away.  The LoJack® system that was installed at Hillside Honda in Queens, NY when the Accord was purchased made the holiday a little brighter by helping local law enforcement recover it that same day.

On December 24th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the NYPD 112th Precinct to report the crime. When the officers arrived, they took a written report and had the information entered into the NYPD stolen vehicle computer and the NCIC national system, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Accord.

A short while later, officers from the NYPD 112th precinct picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was tracked to a residential street in the Forest Hills section of Queens, where it was parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance, the undamaged Accord was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
