On the morning of December 9, 2011, the owner of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle discovered that his bike was missing from the parking lot of his apartment complex, where he had parked it the previous night. the owner immediately contacted the Clearwater Police Department to report the theft.

After completing the stolen vehicle report, Clearwater officers had information about the stolen Suzuki entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.  Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJacks’ interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.

Approximately thirty minutes later, a deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his department vehicle. Using the directional and signal strength indicators on his tracking computer, the deputy quickly located the motorcycle parked in a trailer park in Pinellas Park, FL. The motorcycle was recovered with ignition damage and returned to the very happy owner.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the motorcycle at the owner’s request in April 2007.
