When police officers receive the LoJack® system’s homing signal on the tracking computers installed in their cruisers, they know that it will lead them to a stolen vehicle- but sometimes, they find even more, as in this case in Suffolk County, NY, where locating a Honda CBR600 motorcycle leads them to several other stolen machines as well.

On November 13th, 2013, the Honda’s owner motorcycle contacted Suffolk County Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the motorcycle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC). The LoJack unit concealed in the CBR600, which was installed at New York Yamaha/Honda in Long Island City, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers assigned to Suffolk County PD’s 1st precinct picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers tracked the signal to a residential trailer park in North Amityville, Long Island, where they found the Honda as well as three other motorcycles and two scooters, all of which had been reported stolen. The CBR600 was undamaged and soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
