When a vehicle leasing business has a vehicle stolen, they are both missing an asset and losing income because they are unable to rent it. This is why so many of these companies choose to protect their fleet with the LoJack® system. In this case, a Freightliner truck stolen from a rental company lot in Atlanta, GA, is recovered by local police, assisted by LoJack, in just over three hours after activation.

On November 20th, 2013, the rental company manager contacted Atlanta Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck.

A short while later, an Atlanta Police helicopter began receiving a homing signal coming from the stolen truck with their onboard LoJack tracking computers. The pilot spotted the vehicle parked and unoccupied behind an abandoned warehouse in a rural area of Fulton County. The flight crew notified ground units who recovered the Freightliner and soon returned it to the rental company.
