Late one Thursday afternoon, this resident of the Central City section of New Orleans, LA, discovered his GMC Yukon was missing from his apartment complex parking lot, where he had parked it the previous evening. The LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his SUV made this problem short-lived by helping police recover the vehicle in less than an hour after activation.

On October 24th, 2013, the GMC’s owner contacted New Orleans Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Yukon, which was installed at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, TX.

A short while later, officers from the NOPD picked up the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the GMC while it was being driven and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody, and the undamaged Yukon was soon returned to its relieved owner.
