When a construction crew in Bremerton, WA, discovered that a 2012 Takeuchi Mini Excavator had been stolen from their job site, they contacted law enforcement right away, eager to have this machine returned quickly so they could get back to work. The LoJack® system installed on the equipment did its part, helping local police recover the Takeuchi in less than 90 minutes after activation.

On October 22nd, 2013, the crime was reported to the Bremerton Police. Officers entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the excavator.

A short while later, a Washington State Patrol trooper received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen equipment on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car.  He located the excavator outside the fenced area surrounding a storage unit facility. The undamaged Takeuchi, valued at $45,000, was soon returned to the job site.
