The LoJack® Early Warning System Helps Georgia State Patrol Recover Stolen 2012 Yamaha RZ6 Motorcycle

A motorcycle owner in Georgia thought his Yamaha RZ6 was well protected with a heavy chain and lock that prevented the back wheel from moving. Unfortunately, the determined thieves just picked the bike up and carried it away. The motorcycle’s owner had also purchased the LoJack® Early Warning system when he bought his bike, so he was notified by phone when it was moved, enabling him to contact local law enforcement without delay.
On September 3rd, 2013, the Yamaha’s owner received a LoJack Early Warning notification on his phone that his bike had been moved. After making sure that the motorcycle had been stolen, he immediately contacted Gwinnett County police. Officers verified the theft and entered the bike’s information into the NCIC police computer. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the motorcycle, which was installed at Lawrenceville Honda/Yamaha in Lawrenceville, GA.
A short while later, officers with the Georgia State Patrol picked up the homing signal from the Yamaha on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol cars. The motorcycle was tracked to a residential area where it was hidden in an outbuilding behind a private home. The RZ6 was soon returned to its happy owner.
