In this case, a one-day truck rental provided a whole lot of worry for a national hardware chain store in Hialeah, FL, when a customer decided not to return the Ford F-350 he leased. Store management was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed on the pickup, so local law enforcement could track in down in just 20 minutes after activation.

On June 19th, 2013, the store manager contacted Hialeah Police to report the vehicle stolen. The responding officer verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the F-350.

A short while later, North Miami PD officers picked up the homing signal from the Ford on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. They located the vehicle in a parking lot on N.E. 6th Avenue in North Miami, and notified Hialeah PD. Detectives from the Hialeah auto theft unit set up surveillance on the truck. Within minutes, two suspects were observed entering and exiting the stolen truck. They attempted to leave in another vehicle, but were stopped and arrested. The F-350 was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
