NYPD’s Auto Crime Division Recover Stolen Kawasaki EX650 Motorcycle Assisted by the LoJack® Early Warning System

Wouldn’t it be great if your vehicle could call you to let you know if it’s being stolen? That’s the theory behind the LoJack® Early Warning System. The owner of the protected car, truck, van or motorcycle has a Key Pass to carry every time they drive. When their vehicle is moved without the Key Pass, the owner is notified by phone, text and email within 30 minutes, so they are able to report the theft to local police and have them track it down quickly.
On May 7th, 2013, the owner of a 2012 Kawasaki EX650 received an Early Warning notification and discovered his motorcycle was stolen from his residence. He contacted the New York Police Department’s 49th precinct. Officers verified the theft and entered the VIN (vehicle identification number) into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the EX650, which was installed at Motorcycle Mall in Belleville, NJ.
A short while later, detectives from NYPD’s Auto Crime Division, picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The detectives located the undamaged, abandoned motorcycle in the rear courtyard of an apartment building. The Kawasaki was soon released to its extremely thrilled owner.
