Adams County, Colorado Sheriff’s Department Recovers Stolen 2011 Ford E-350 in 27 Minutes Assisted by the LoJack® System

Commercial rental companies are often the victim of thieves who either rent cars, trucks or vans and don’t return them, or steal vehicles right off the lot. Many of these companies install the LoJack® system on their entire fleet of vehicles to give law enforcement a helping hand in locating their assets if they’re ever taken illegally.

On February 26th, 2013, the loss prevention manager of a large commercial rental agency contacted the Arvada, Colorado police to report that a 2011 Ford E-350 rental van had been rented and not returned.  Efforts by the company to call and contact the renter failed. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the van was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the Ford with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle to Brighton Boulevard in Adams County and recovered the van in only 27 minutes after activation. The E-350 was soon returned to the rental company.
