When a thief steals a motorcycle, their first action is often to get the bike out of sight, to let the search for it die down before they move it somewhere else. Stashing it in a garage may prevent the police from seeing it, but mere walls can’t stop the LoJack® system!

On May 1st, 2013 the owner of a 2008 Honda CBR 1000RR contacted the 104th precinct, in Maspeth, Queens, NY, to report that his motorcycle had been stolen from his home. The officers entered the bike’s information into their local and national crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed on the Honda, which was installed at New York Yamaha Honda in Long Island City, NY.

A short while later, officers from the Queens North Auto Larceny Unit picked up the homing signal from the bike on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a home in the Glendale section of Queens with several attached garages. After narrowing down which garage the signal was coming out of, they rang the home’s doorbell. The male resident of the home was taken into custody, and the undamaged Honda was soon returned to its grateful owner, who said it was unlikely his motorcycle would have been found without the LoJack system, and he was very glad he made the decision to have it installed on his CBR 1000RR.
