The valiant, dedicated members of our US military forces deserve our respect and gratitude. That’s why it’s so aggravating to read a story like this, where a soldier’s motorcycle was stolen off the military base where he was stationed. The LoJack® device on the Suzuki did its duty in assisting police with locating the bike and returning it to its owner.

On March 28th, 2013, a soldier and the owner of a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle contacted the Fort Bragg, North Carolina Provost Marshal/Military Police to report that their motorcycle was stolen from the soldier’s assigned on-base barrack parking lot.  The bike was last seen the previous evening.  The USA Provost Marshal’s Office at Fort Bragg verified the theft and entered the motorcycle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Suzuki, which was installed at RideNow Powersports in Orlando, FL.

A short time later, Fort Bragg Military Police/Traffic Unit Officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen Suzuki on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the motorcycle to a civilian apartment complex just outside the base’s gate.  Fayetteville, NC police were contacted to assist. The bike was located in the complex parking lot, hidden under a tarp with a different license plate, and had little or no damages. The license plate change would have confused any person who saw the vehicle, but it did not fool the LoJack System!
