On March 23, 2013, the owners of a Honda Accord contacted the West Covina Police Department to report their vehicle had been stolen.

West Covina PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Rock Honda in Fontana, CA.

Within 10 minutes of activation, officers from nearby El Monte picked up the signal from the stolen Honda on the LoJack tracking computer located in their police vehicle.  The Accord was tracked, observed parked and appeared to be unoccupied.  The officers approached the vehicle and noticed a large amount of clothing and a suitcase piled on the front seat; then they observed the suspect pop his head up from beneath the clothing to apparently check the whereabouts of the officers. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and the Honda was soon returned to its owners.
