LoJack Helps Baltimore City Police Recover Stolen Honda Civic, Arrest Suspect

On February 21, 2013, the owner of a 2006 Honda Civic contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 3400 block of E. Lombard Street in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time of theft, the vehicle was valued at more than $10,000.
Baltimore City Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.
A short while later, patrol officers with the Baltimore City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to downtown Baltimore and observed the vehicle being driven by the theft suspect. Officers were able to stop the vehicle on East Baltimore Street and arrest the driver. The owner was contacted and transported to the scene where her undamaged vehicle was returned to her.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic in September of 2006 at Pohanka Honda in Marlow Heights, Maryland.
