On February 6, 2013, the owner of a 2006 Scion XA contacted the Dekalb County Police Deparatment to report that her vehicle was stolen from her home during the night. Dekalb Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Scion.

A short while later, troopers with the Georgia State Patrol began receiving a silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen car on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a shopping area. There, they located the Scion with two people inside; however, when the suspects saw the trooper, they quickly sped off.

The trooper called for backup, and then set off in a controlled pursuit of the Scion; after nearly twenty minutes down a busy Interstate, the suspects came to a sudden stop and fled from the stolen Scion. After a search of the area, the officers located the suspected driver in a nearby apartment complex. The suspect was arrested and charged with the theft.

The owner was notified of the recovery and that informed that the vehicle was in very good condition without any damage. The owner was not aware that a LoJack unit had been installed in the vehicle by the previous owner, but was very glad that it had been.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Scion in February of 2008 at Atlanta Toyota.
