LoJack Helps Adams County Deputies Recover Stolen Ford F250, 2 Suspects Arrested, 2 More Sought

On January 2, 2013, the owners of a 2001 Ford F250 contacted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the pickup.
A short while later, officers with both the Commerce City Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety.
Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the truck to the area of 77th and Brighton Boulevard, where they saw it being driven. As officers attempted to approach the truck for a felony traffic stop, the driver of a second vehicle that was behind the truck began swerving aggressively at the patrol vehicles in an attempt to block the patrol vehicles from getting any closer to the stolen Ford truck. In the end both, vehicles were stopped, two persons were arrested and two other persons identified as being involved in the theft were being sought by authorities.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Ford F250 in November of 2001 at Burt Ford in Centennial, Colorado. The vehicle was valued at approximately $11,000.
