LoJack Helps Kannapolis (NC) Police Recover Ford F-150 Stolen in Richmond, VA

On January 2, 2013, the owner of a 2008 Ford F-150 contacted the Richmond, VA Police Department to report the vehicle stolen.
Officers with the Richmond Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Ford F-150.
A short while later, officers from Kannapolis, NC Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford F-150 on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Delaney Drive.
The Ford F-150 was found abandoned in the apartment complex parking lot. A canvass of the tenants revealed the driver of the pickup. Contact was made with the driver and information was developed concerning the purchase of the vehicle and monies owed the alleged victim. The Ford F-150 pickup was seized and stored by Kannapolis Police until the true owner can be determined.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford F-150 in June 2008 at Crown Ford in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
