LoJack Early Warning Enables Sayreville Police to Quickly Recover Stolen Nissan, Arrest Thief

On January 6, 2013, the owner of a 2011 Nissan Altima contacted the Franklin Township Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen. The customer told police that her vehicle was last seen parked in her driveway and that she was notified by LoJack Early Warning System that the vehicle was being moved. The owner also called the LoJack Customer Service Desk to advise LoJack of the theft.
The Franklin Township Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Altima.
A short time later, a police officer from the Sayreville Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Nissan Altima on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to a motel parking lot on Route 9, where he found the parked vehicle. A police surveillance team was set up on the vehicle and they waited until the suspect exited the motel. As he entered that stolen vehicle, he was arrested.
