King County Sheriff’s Deputies Use LoJack to Recover Stolen Nissan 240SX Convertible

On January 6, 2013, the owner of a Nissan 240SX contacted the King County Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle stolen during the previous night from 17th Avenue Southwest in White Center, south of Seattle.

King County deputies verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan.

Minutes later, a sergeant with the King County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signal transmitting from the stolen Nissan on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol car.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the sergeant tracked the vehicle to the 9800 block of 6th Avenue South, where they found the abandoned vehicle.  It was processed for fingerprint evidence and released to the owner.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Nissan 240SX in March of 1993 at Universal City Nissan in Los Angeles, California. The vehicle was purchased as a used car, and the owner was not aware that the vehicle was equipped with LoJack
