Baltimore City Air & Ground Units Use LoJack to Recover STolen Lexus ES-300, Suspect Arrested

On January 5, 2013, the owner of a 2001 Lexus ES-300 contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the Pikesville area of Baltimore County, Maryland.

Baltimore County Police Department police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Lexus

Minutes later, flight officers from the Baltimore City Police Department’s Aviation Unit, “Foxtrot”, picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Lexus on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their helicopter. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the flight officers tracked the vehicle to Liberty Heights Avenue in the northwest area of Baltimore City. At this time, LoJack-equipped patrol units also responded and located the unoccupied stolen Lexus and recovered the vehicle.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Lexus in August of 2001 at Len Stoler Lexus in Westminster, Maryland.
