LoJack Helps Houston Police Recover Stolen John Deere Loader, Hidden in Grove of Trees

On December 14, 2012, the owners of a 2000 John Deere Loader contacted the Harris County Pct. 4Constable Department to report that the equipment was stolen from a construction work site sometime during the previous night.
Harris County deputies verified the theft and entered the equipment’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the John Deere loader.
A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen John Deere loader on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the loader to a wooded area at the dead end of a dirt road, where the loader was hidden in a grove of trees. It appeared that the loader was hidden and the thieves would return at a later time if the loader was not discovered by the police. The owner was notified and the loader, valued at $15,000, was released into his custody at the location.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the John Deere Loader in April of 2009 at United Rentals for Keller Fleet Service.
