Providence Police Use LoJack to Recover Mercedes Benz Stolen in Pawtucket with Keys Inside

On December 3, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Mercedes Benz 350 left the keys in the vehicle while it was parked in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Upon returning to where it was parked, the owner discovered it missing and immediately called the Pawtucket Police to report it stolen.
Pawtucket Police verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercedes.
Minutes later, officers with the Providence Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Mercedes on the Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the PTC, the officers quickly tracked the vehicle into a residential area in East Providence. There, they located the vehicle, parked and unoccupied. The Mercedes had no damage, and was returned to the owner that day.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Mercedes Benz 350 at InSkip Mercedes Benz in December of 2008.
