Ford Rental Truck Stolen for 2nd Time in 2012, Quickly Recovered by Denver Police Using LoJack

On November 6, 2012, the managers of a large truck rental company contacted the Glendale Police Department to report that a rental truck had been taken and not returned by the renter. All efforts to contact the renter had failed, due to faulty information provided at the time of rental.
Glendale Police verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck. LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with the Denver Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford truck with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the officers quickly tracked and recovered the F-250.
This was the second time this year that this particular truck had been stolen and quickly recovered by police using LoJack.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Ford in February of 2012 through a commercial installation in Atlanta, Georgia. The total value of the vehicle recovered is approximately $26,500.
